Welcome to St Patrick's Sydenham
St Patrick's Parish in Sydenham, Port Elizabeth strives at all times to bear faithful witness to Our Lord Jesus Christ, striving to always live and present the Gospel and the teachings of The Roman Catholic Church. The Parish tries to provide as many opportunities for worship and Spiritual Growth as possible. The community further tries to be as attentive as possible to the social and material needs of all its members, as well as the members of the broader community. We are a warm and welcoming community, always trying to bring the Presence of the Risen Lord to our people through our liturgies, formation and outreach programmes.
St Patrick's Parish serves the community of Sydenham and surrounding areas in Port Elizabeth. The iconic Parish Church, with its distinctive domed bell tower, and stunning Sanctuary mural, was opened and dedicated to St Patrick, Apostle of Ireland, on March 22nd, 1936 by the Right Reverend Bishop McSherry, assisted by the first Parish Priest, Fr E J Wynne.
The year 2016 is therefore our Parish's 80th Anniversary, and this website is just one of the many projects and events celebrating this momentous jubilee.
We hope you will find the site interesting and educational, and look forward to your company throughout our 80th Anniversary year, and beyond.
